How does your water affect your skin and hair?

Water contaminants can damage your hair and skin:

Chlorine is a common city water additive that is used to help disinfect water to make it safer to drink. Although it is used at a city level, it can be removed from your water so you don’t have to drink it or bathe in it. But why would you want to remove Chlorine? Aside from its unappealing taste and smell, Chlorine is a known cause of eye irritation, skin irritation, and respiratory distress. Furthermore, Chlorine can leave your skin feeling tight and itchy because it strips your skin of its protective oils. Chlorine also removes the protective oils from your hair and causes split ends, hair breakage, and damage to color-treated hair. So if you’re tired of dry, itchy, and inflamed skin or lackluster hair, it might be time to treat your water to remove Chlorine!

Water Hardness

Water hardness refers to the amount of Calcium and Magnesium that is in your water. These minerals wreak havoc on plumbing, faucets, and fixtures because they bind with soap to create limescale and soap scum. But this soap scum doesn’t just adhere to your home’s water-bearing surfaces, it also adheres to your skin! Soap scum clogs pores, dries out skin because you have to use more soap to feel clean, and is a probable cause for eczema–especially in children. Recent studies in the U.K. have found that children who live in areas with hard water are 50% more likely to suffer from eczema. This is because hard water, like Chlorine, also causes damage to your skin’s protective barriers. So if you or your children suffer from clogged pores, dry skin, or eczema, it might be time to remove these water hardness minerals from your water.

A Crusader Enhanced Filtration Water Softener Can Help!

“I purchased a Crusader water softener and filtration system about a month ago and these are my impressions: (1) The equipment is top quality, delivering clean, soft water, free of mineral flavors and odors; also free of that “slippery” sensation typically associated with soft water. (2) The owner and technician who installed our water softener both went out of their way to find an affordable, effective solution tailored to our needs and concerns. As a result, we’re left with the sense that Crusader places high priority on their commitment to their customers. Bottom-line: Crusader has delivered exceptional value and service to us and we’re very pleased to recommend them.” – Blake Swain
